This and That
This week was a good one. We wrapped up another phase in the backyard and we’re hoping to do a bit of landscaping on Saturday. The boys will be visiting my parents, so I’m planning to catch up on my sleep and watch some Netflix, too. In the middle of the day, imagine that! Here are a few things that caught my eye this week.
Judy Blume on her life and works.
A short, animated film based on “The Yellow Wallpaper” by Charlotte Perkins Gilman.
Richard Linklater’s Boyhood and the changes in Texas. I really want to see this movie.
The many faces of Blanche Dubois.
The real humanitarian crisis along the Texas border.
A journalist argues that these children are truly refugees.
And awful immigration myths debunked.
Two funerals, one in Israel and one in Palestine. Both are very sad.
It’s so weird to me that Judy Blume needs a bodyguard!
I was listening to a CBC show on the minors coming to Texas a few days ago – it must be crazy to be in the middle of it.
It’s bizarre how extreme things have gotten in more recent years.
Most of the facilities where the kids are taken are south of us, including San Antonio where my parents live.
