This and That
I told you yesterday how busy this week was, and it feels wonderful to be so productive. We are getting ready to start a big backyard project and I’m really looking forward to that, too. Getting things done feels great and our list is growing smaller and smaller. Here are a few things that caught my eye this week.
“Orange Is the New Black” and body diversity. (I just finished and loved the second season!)
The inaccuracies of the show, according to a former inmate.
“Bodies with No Regret,” a photography series.
Reading aloud to children from birth will now be officially recommended by pediatricians. (I found the comments really interesting.)
It’s been a year since Wendy Davis’ famous filibuster and her gubernatorial race is really inspiring. I have such hope for my state’s future.
Iceland takes baby names very seriously. Very seriously.
Confiscated “pornography” from the Soviet Union.
And speaking of Texas, Phil Collins is donating his large collection of Alamo memorabilia to the landmark.
Have a wonderful weekend!
We’ve only managed to watch one episode of the newest season of Orange is the New Black – I’m dying to binge watch it but I don’t have the time!
It took me a week or so to get through it, but it is so good.
I’ve been avoiding everything OitNB-related, including the show itself, simply because I’m ornery and don’t like being into what everyone else is into =P Yup, snooty hipster at heart. && if I ever have children I’m going to read to them constantly. I have very precious memories of my mom reading out loud to me–and she still does it sometimes, whenever she hits a funny passage.
Ha ha, I do that, too. It is a really good show and does a great job with diversity. And that’s so great about your mom reading to you. It’s so important. 🙂
