Odds and Ends
This summer is off to a good start and the boys and I are settling into a weekly schedule. I have a few little odds and ends worth mentioning, but not in their own separate blog posts, so I thought I’d put them together for a change.
I’ve had a dry, scratchy throat all week long and it’s driving me nuts. I guess it’s allergy-related, which seems weird for this time of year. It gets worse at night, and I hope it goes away soon.
Ryan and I went to lunch at our favorite little Japanese restaurant this week, and discovered that it changed ownership since we were there two weeks ago. Everything is exactly the same, except for the people. It was originally run by a sushi chef and his wife, who cooked in the kitchen and served the food, and now there’s another family running the show. Ryan found the restaurant listed for sale on Craigslist last winter, so it’s not a complete surprise and we assume the older chef and his wife retired. Still, I felt kind of sad about it and I wish we could have said goodbye to the first couple. The new chef sent us a complimentary dessert of fried bananas with chocolate and cream, and I’m sure we will go back regularly.
In similar news, I received a letter in the mail yesterday notifying me that my rheumatologist, who treats my scleroderma, is retiring this summer. That came as a shock and I cried a little bit when I read the letter. He diagnosed me in 2003 and has treated me ever since. I can switch to another doctor in his practice, but I will miss him a lot, even if he did order way too many tests over the years and stress me out endlessly. I have written about his office before.
I bought a new razor this week, and I feel like a million bucks. It’s amazing how something as simple as that can really make you feel good. I also tried a new body oil after never using one before, and I bought a new lip gloss that changes color based on each person’s chemistry. Kind of cool. I’m sure I’ll write about the new body products soon.
What’s new with you these days?

Oooh, I can’t wait to read about that lip gloss! Like a mood ring. For your mouth. Haha.
I hope to write about it for next week.
