Spring Inspiration
Since the weather’s warming up and summer will be here before we know it, I changed up my inspiration board again. Sadly, some of the pictures were too heavy and were knocked down by the wind from the ceiling fan one night, so my actual board is much smaller now. That’s okay, though, because I’ve really been favoring a minimal look lately.
I’m not sure why, but I’ve been drawn to blogs and articles where less is more. I don’t think I could ever strip my walls and floors completely bare, but I enjoy reading about that style. And maybe because I’ve stopped coloring my hair, I’m also drawn to a simpler style in my wardrobe, too. This weekend, I cleaned out my closet and let go of the things I’m no longer using. Then I went through my jewelry box and lightened it, too.
I enjoy the process of cleaning out and letting go. It’s fun to see what I used to wear and how my style continues to change. I still love floral patterns and vintage-style clothing, but a solid tee with black pants and simple jewelry looks just as lovely, I think. I have my beauty favorites, and I’m trying to be more frugal when I buy new products to try. It’s probably a part of getting older, too, and little things that once caught my eye no longer seem to interest me. Now, I look for objects that will last through several seasons and serve me well into the future.
And I keep listening to this song. It makes me think of winter, but I like the hopefulness in it, too.
What’s inspiring you right now?

That song is beautiful! It’s been hard for me to get inspired lately… I need to clean out my closet and donate or sell some things too.
I heard it on the radio and then had to do some detective work to track it down. 🙂
I’m trying to weed out my own closet – it’s hard to let go of stuff but feels much better after!
Yes, definitely. I had a really hard time letting go of clothes after my first baby came, but it felt good to buy new pieces that fit better.
I should go through my jewelry again; I have a feeling I have several single earrings without their match. I really love the minimalist thing that’s happening in home and fashion design right now. There’s nothing wrong with keeping it simple, but I’ll always favor prints and knickknacks too much to fully embrace it.
I don’t really know what to do with the earrings I know longer wear. Can they be donated? I love the minimal look, too. It’s different than my style, but it’s refreshing, too.
