This and That
This week was crazy! First James got hit with a second round of some brief stomach bug, and then Rhys got sick from his flu vaccination. I spent lots of time caring for both boys, and they are on the mend now, thankfully. Hopefully this weekend will be relaxing and uneventful compared to our stressful week. Here are a few things that caught my attention this week.
Umba has refocused their company to support artisans around the world, and their new fall line debuts today! Be sure to check out their gorgeous items that truly give back.
“Skinny, hungry friendships are the best.” A post about friends that is really worth reading.
One girl quit her job in the most creative way ever.
An inspiring combination of colors.
And Wendy Davis made it official yesterday.
Have a wonderful weekend!

I love the post about friendships. It’s so true. And I think as we get older, it’s so important to realize the changes we have to make to maintain friendships. Also, hooray for Wendy Davis!
Yes, I’ve definitely found that friendships change and so do your expectations for friendships, too.
I love the pink and turquoise necklaces! The friendship article was really interesting; I have found the exact opposite to be true in my long lasting friendships, but we have made it through the honeymoon phases and overcome arguments, offended spouses, fights between toddlers, etc. Different things work for different people and her perspective was interesting to me.
I love those necklaces, too! That article really struck a chord with me after a bad experience I had.
Yes, for awhile I ascribed to the idea that adult women friendships should be mostly easy and no stress, but I wanted more truly close friendships. I have learned that for me, imho, when you work through the hurt feelings or wierd behavior that we can all have at times, you get to a place of realistic expectations where you and your friends see each other’s imperfections (some glaring!) but forgive and cut slack for one another, and I can really say a whole new level of closeness and sisterhood opens up. It hurts and takes effort but the rewards to having strong smart women as best friends and your supporters are so worth it! 🙂 love you!
I think that can be true, but at the same time, there are relationships that can become hurtful and even toxic, and it’s best to let those go.
Great to hear about Umba!
I know, I was really impressed!
That friendship article was really interesting. I’m one of those “lots of good friends but no best friend” camp, and I always kind of wondered why I didn’t have a BFF. Turns out I just like hanging out with everyone. 🙂
I think that’s the best way to be. 🙂
Hope everyone is on the mend! We both got a nasty cold this week — no fun at all.
We got hit pretty hard this year. I’m ready for everyone to be well so we can enjoy the weather. Hope you guys feel better soon!
