This and That
This week I spent lots of time driving the boys to school and their activities, and nursing Rhys through a stomach bug. Thankfully, he is on the mend and the rest of us seemed to escape it. We’re gearing up for brew night tonight and a relaxing weekend. Here are a few things that caught my eye this week.
The newest film version of The Great Gatsby apparently took some liberties with 1920s fashion.
These braids from New York Fashion Week are really stunning.
Beautiful photographs of India’s Third Gender.
Haunting photographs of America’s last miners.
Arcade Fire responds to a local man’s complaints about the band’s recent advertising campaign.
A five-year-old is on a mission to write a letter to every country in the world.
The high stakes involved in Wendy Davis’ possible run for governor.
John Cusack on rights for NSA reporters.
And my take on 1940s makeup for The Glamorous Housewife.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Leticia van de Putte has commented before that if Wendy runs for governor, she would consider running for lieutenant governor. I would be very interested in seeing how that would go! And every time I think about it, I get this song stuck in my head: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBmMU_iwe6U
That would be so awesome! Van de Putte is the senator from my hometown. I think the big factor is that if Davis runs for governor, she gives up her senate seat. So, if she loses, she’s out of Texas politics altogether. It’s a gamble, because we need her.
The third gender series is so interesting!
I know! I love gender studies.
