Well, I Never…
I’ve had the idea for this post in my head for a while, but I felt silly actually writing it. Then, I saw this piece in San Antonio’s local paper, and knew this was my chance. Bloggers reveal so much about our lives on a daily basis, so I thought it would be fun to share a few things I’ve never, ever done. You might be surprised.
I’ve never had a professional manicure or pedicure. While I don’t always paint my fingers, my toes are always polished. Feet kind of gross me out, so I could never let someone else give me a pedicure. I do my own every two weeks or so, even when I was hugely pregnant, and they look just fine.
I’ve never been to Disneyland or Disney World. I never went as a child, and Ryan isn’t a fan of Disney; plus, I’m scared of roller coasters. No big deal. I used to teach at a learning center, and when my students had to write a “Compare and Contrast” paper, so many of them always compared and contrasted the two parks. I read a ton of those papers, so I got the inside scoop. Disney World is bigger.
Even though I’m a native Texan, I’ve never owned a pair of boots (if you don’t count the square-toe kind with zippers from back in 2002), and I’ve never been out dancing. I mean, I’ve been to weddings where people two-step, but I have no clue how to do it.
I helped my younger sister learn to roller skate on the sidewalk in front of our house, but I never learned myself. Which means I can’t ice skate, either. Obviously, I was not the life of the party back in junior high when my friends hung out at Skateland.
My high school football team was kind of a big deal when I was in school, but I never, ever, never went to a single football game during my entire four years there. It was a source of pride for me.
I’ve never been tubing down the Guadalupe River, which is a favorite past-time of Texans. I’m not the outdoorsy type, plus it’s hot, so I just don’t get floating down a river in a plastic tube when you could be in air-conditioning.
So, now that I’ve bared my soul and revealed my shortcomings, what are some things you’ve never done?

This is a fun post – not silly at all!
I’m a mani-pedi no-go too! Never had a professional one. I’m a sloppy terror with nail polish too, so my nails are naked 99% of the time. My college roommate and I were in an academic production of Steel Magnolias and the director was really into realism. She had me paint my roommate’s toenails in every performance. The funny part is, my roommate got used to red nails and started asking me to paint her toenails back home as well. :-/
I also hear you on the football! Never went to a game – any game – until last week, and it was only to support my husband who in turn was supporting the school where he teaches.
It was nice of you to help your sis learn to roller skate.
I love tubing! But of course I’ve never experience the Guadalupe River. Even in the hottest summer here in the mountains the rivers and creeks still feel like ice, so maybe that was the appeal. My sister never liked it though.
October, that is so cool that you were in _Steel Magnolias_! I haven’t seen the play, but I love the movie and it has some of the best lines ever. My sisters and I quote from it all the time. “Pink is my signature color,” by the way. What character did you play?
I played Annelle. My roommate was Clairee. I didn’t see the movie until after the play. It has some great quotes, doesn’t it?
I like “I serve it with ice cream to cut the sweetness.” 🙂
Oh wow, I could see you as Annelle! I need to watch that movie again. It’s always good for lots of laughter and a few tears, too.
I’ve never: eaten SPAM, ridden a unicycle, owned a dog or watched Indiana Jones.
I did learn to roller skate when I was a kid, but that was because my sister and I watched Xanadu a few too many times, so obviously we had to turn our garage into a rink.
That is so funny about Xanadu! My little sister got a pair of skates from the neighbor across the street, and then she turned into what my parents called a derby girl. 😛
I’ve never been skiing even though I’ve been on ski trips. Go figure.
Ha ha! Yes, I would love to go skiing! And by “skiing,” I mean sitting inside with a book and a mug of hot chocolate, watching the snow fall.
