“The Sea and the Shore”
I recently discovered the songs of Amy Speace, a Shakespearean actress and singer/songwriter, whose newest album, “How To Sleep In a Stormy Boat,” was just released last week. Speace wrote all of the songs, and the album is filled with melancholy pieces that definitely seem inspired by the works of the Bard himself.
My absolute favorite song is a duet between Speace and musician John Fullbright, and I literally cannot stop listening to it. “The Sea and the Shore” is a heartbreaking conversation between the two entities, and, with their voices, both Speace and Fullbright capture the sense of desire and loss so beautifully described within the lyrics.
The video is poignant, too, and the song is just pure poetry. I hope you like it as much as I do.
This is lovely!
Yay, glad you liked it!
I am learning this song so I can sing it. You were right; the lyrics are pure poetry. Beautiful!
It’s my new favorite song. 🙂
