Amused by Tarte
Sandra’s Downton Abbey Compendium inspired me so much that I had to take action! After watching that stunning fashion shoot video dozens of times, I spied the cosmetics used on the set and had to get my hands on them. I love the look of dramatic eyes paired with blushing cheeks and lips, so I was excited to try Tarte’s Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush and LipSurgence Lip Tint, both in Amused.
I first used Tarte’s famous Cheek Stain years ago and liked it, but because I have oily skin, powder blush works best on me. This blush, which comes in a cute pink compact, is very highly pigmented, so a little goes a long way. It is definitely long-lasting, and I love the natural blush it adds to my cheeks.
Tarte’s LipSurgence Lip Tint in Amused is incredibly light and refreshing, adding a nice pink color to my lips, and I’m really sorry I didn’t try this product sooner. I assumed it was more like a lip pencil, but it’s actually a crayon-type product that goes on extremely smoothly and is not drying at all. It’s a bit matte, so I just add some light gloss on top and I’m ready to go. For someone like me who often uses four lip products at once (lip balm, lip liner, lipstick, and lip gloss), this is absolutely perfect. It can be applied without a mirror, too, which is great for on-the-go retouching. Best of all, it is retractable and doesn’t need sharpening, so I’m planning to try the other colors later this year, too.
Thanks for the review! I’ve not used too much Tarte, except for the cheek stain, which is way too much for my already rosy cheeks. The lip pencil sounds good, because I’m like you and use all my products at once. I have one from Nars like it, but it doesn’t retract or have a lid for that matter, so I can’t take it anywhere.
I really love the lip pencil and it doesn’t dry out my lips at all. I want to try different colors. 🙂
