One recent morning, I stepped outside to water my plants, and found this little bird perched on my mum. The night before, I had witnessed his attempt to take flight in our front yard as his mother looked on from our tree, eyeing me the entire time. I didn’t want to interfere with Mother Nature, but I couldn’t resist taking a few photographs of him all snuggled up against the warm brick pillar, just relaxing in the morning sun. He stayed in this spot for several hours, and finally walked across the street around noon, as I watched for cars and prayed for his safety. I’m sure his mother was nearby.
And this newly hatched cicada spent all morning on the screen outside James’ bedroom window, just hanging around and enjoying the view. Ryan, who is usually brave and removes roaches from our house while I cower in fear, is not a fan of cicadas, for some reason. He wasn’t interested in getting a closeup of this insect.
As I crept in close to get this shot with our borrowed camera and 50mm lens, I got a small case of the heeby-jeebies and wished I had put on the 100mm lens, instead. But the best photographers stay on their feet and keep moving, right?
**And speaking of tiny creatures, my sister’s sweet baby arrived yesterday safe and sound, after a rather eventful pregnancy. Congratulations to her family!
This is a Jitney. I looked it up, and it runs along four possible routes. Four. In Atlantic City. That’s in New Jersey.
So why is it sitting in my neighbor’s front yard? All the time. In a small, central Texas town. Ryan and I joke that if we want to get away, we can simply climb aboard.
But where do we buy the tickets?
(And speaking of crazy, I’m having a teeny-tiny “canned meat” issue, so for now, all comments will be moderated. Thank you for understanding!)
We just gave back a friend’s awesome camera that he graciously loaned us for a while, but I immensely enjoyed the spontaneity that comes with photography. I walked into the living room right before nap time recently, and found this charming scene, so I grabbed the camera and snapped a few shots.
And then that weekend, the boys were watching “Thomas the Tank Engine” while they played with their trains, so I got a few more photos.
We’re now in the market for our own DSLR, and I’ll be sure to let you know when we finally make a purchase.
