(The Fortitude Necklace from Oh My Clumsy Heart.)
This week was really, really busy! Ryan traveled again, so I held down the fort for a few days, which is always an adventure. Rhys graduated from pre-K last night, marking the end of an era for our family at our neighborhood preschool. The long weekend came as a surprise to me, but I’m thrilled to take it. I’m looking forward to lots of quiet time, reading, and movie watching this weekend. Here are a few things that caught my eye this week.
I really liked the “Mad Men” finale! This interview with Jon Hamm and this look at the Coke ad shed some light on the ending.
The trailer for Amy, the new film about Amy Winehouse.
She walked the stage with her mattress, in protest.
This just in: Texas is not the best state for women. We can do better than this.
An interesting glimpse at the real housewives of the Upper East Side.
And Penguins With Parent Problems. So true!
Have a great weekend!

(My new bag from Cuyana.)
I’ve been on the hunt lately for a spring bag that is both ethical and stylish, and when I received a catalog from Cuyana, my search was over. I ordered the Classic Leather Tote in Stone, and I am thrilled with its overall design. The bag is soft and supple, as well as sturdy, and I’m able to carry all of my daily essentials with plenty of room left to add toys and snacks for the boys, too.
Cuyana’s philosophy is “fewer, better things,” and the products are made in the United States from imported Italian leather. The company also promotes the Lean Closet Movement and encourages their shoppers to focus on quality, rather than quantity. If you wish to participate, they will add a cloth bag and pre-paid return label to your order, and you can send in items from your closet that you wish to donate. As an added incentive, you will also receive credit toward your next Cuyana purchase. It’s a great program from start to finish.
Cuyana’s pieces are lovely and classic, and quite affordable for leather goods. They also carry a few select clothing items for women in gorgeous pastel shades. With my trusty Artifact bag in black for colder months, my tote collection is now complete. I plan to get years of wear from my new Cuyana bag, too.
The True Cost is a new documentary film exploring the current climate in the fashion industry. Directed by Andrew Morgan and produced by Livia Firth and others interested in fashion ethics and sustainability, The True Cost examines human rights and environmental issues in the countries where the world’s clothing is produced. The film opens worldwide on May 29th and will be available to download on Amazon and iTunes that same day. I’m excited to see this film and I’m planning to purchase it via Amazon for a future review.
For more information on the film, please visit The True Cost’s site.
